The Art of Frugal Hedonism by Annie Raser-Rowland
Annie Raser-Rowland (The Weed Forager’s Handbook) is back with this quirky and practical guide to living well with less: The Art of Frugal Hedonism.
It sounds too good to be true.
You can save money and the world.
You can inoculate yourself against many of the ills of modern life, and enjoy everything more on both the sensual and profound levels? Preposterous!
Here is a toolkit to help you do just that. A tweak here, a twiddle there; every strategy in The Art Of Frugal Hedonism has been designed to help you target the most important habits of mind and action needed for living frugally but hedonistically. Apply a couple, and you’ll definitely have a few extra dollars in your pocket and enjoy more sunsets. Apply the lot, and you’ll wake up one day and realise that you’re happier, wealthier, fitter, and more in lust with life than you’d ever thought possible.
Annie’s book is a lively guide to living a full life with less, and includes sections on food, foraging and more, along with entertaining images and written in her signature witty and quirky style.
“The Art of Frugal Hedonism is an absolute joy. It is good-natured not pious, humane not self-righteous, and a guide to ethical living that makes the impossible possible. I am happy to make this my bible.”
~ Christos Tsiolkas, author of The Slap
Annie Raser-Rowland used to make art but became suspicious that the natural world was frequently outdoing her, and with greater finesse. She took up making gardens for beauty, then realised that she could feed herself at the same time. These days she is a graduate of horticulture and permaculture certificates, has worked at several Melbourne nurseries, performed urban edible garden design and spent a spell in Tanzania working on permaculture systems. As a full-blown plant nerd with a passion for questioning modern food equations, she started investigating wild and other undervalued foods, was recruited by the rich pleasures of foraging and gleaning, and hasn’t stopped learning since.
