Sweet Basil: Ocimum basilicum

Heirloom Open pollinated seed

Sweet Basil Aromatic Annual growing to 50cm, Large Medium- green shiny leaves that are sweeter and milder in flavour that other common varieties. Slow bolting. Can be grown in containers. Can be used fresh or dried.

Method: Raise Seedlings
Sowing Depth: 2mm
When: Spring and summer
Position: Full Sun, moist well drained soil
Plant spacing: 30cm
Hardiness: Frost tender
Plant Height: 50cm
Care: Pick regularly to encourage more growth. Keep well watered. Remove flower buds as soon as they appear for continued leaf growth. Protect from aphids, slugs and Snails.

 

Tommy Toe Tomato: Lycopersicon esculentum

Tommy toe Tomato Seed is Heirloom and one of the most popular varieties available. Climbing. Large cherry tomatoes growing up to 4cm. Exceptional flavour. Very sweet. Long cropping. Good disease resistance.

Method: Sow direct or raise seedlings

When: Spring and early summer (or after frost)
Row spacing: 60-70cm
Position: Full Sun, moist well drained soil
Plant spacing: 50cm
Hardiness: Frost tender
Days to maturity: 72 days
Care: Plants need stacking. Prune plants to two main sterms. Keep well watered. Pick when mature to encourage more fruit. To reduce the risk of desease do not water overhead. Rotate crops: do not plant in the same pisition two years in a row.

Zucchini Black Beauty: Curcubita Pepo

Upright bush, popular home garden variety producing dark green cylindrical fruit with tender cream/white flesh. Delicious flavour. Quick growing

Sowing Depth: 20mm
When: Spring and summer (or after frost)
Row spacing: 100cm
Position: Part or full sun, mois well drained soil
Plant spacing: 75cm
Hardiness: Frost tender
Days to maturity: 50-65 days
Care: Best when picked at around 15-20cm.Pick flowers for stuffing. Picking regularly encourage more fruit.Produces more fruit than the standard hybrid Black Jack. Just 9 weeks to harvest. Susceptible to mildews.Harvest while skins are still tender; pick really small for “baby zucchini.” .

Lettuce Salad Bowl: Lactuca sativa

When: Spring, summer and autumn (or anytime outside of frost)
Row spacing: 50cm
Position: Full Sun, moist well drained soil
Plant spacing: 30cm
Hardiness: Hardy
Days to maturity: 58-70 days
Care: Keep well watered. Cut leaves and stalks as required. Remove any flower stems as soon as they appear. Is susceptible to downy mildew and leaf spot.
