Issue Two, Greenhouses and Pigs

I love what I do. I get to talk to so many inspiring and knowledgeable people about what they are passionate about I am learning so much

This week for example, I’ve been speaking with Professor Stuart Hill, Dan Palmer of VEG, Morag Gamble of SEED International, Hannah Moloney from Good Life Permaculture and Kym Mogridge the composting loo king and that was just Monday. Each of them are so knowledgeable in their area and while we’re discussing what they might write about in the magazine I feel really privileged to learn from them.

This issue of Pip is going to be a pearler. As newsletter subscribers I’ll give you a bit of a sneak preview.  There will be a complete guide to composting toilets, an in depth look at permaculture design,  a guide to animals in the permaculture system, plus profiles and lots more. I’ll let you know a bit more next month.

Around the Pip headquarters there’s been a lot going on too.  We’ve had the pigs in our proposed food forest/ orchard preparing the soil, we’ve been planning and designing the space and selecting fruit tree varieties that we’ll be planting over the coming months.

Alex has also been hard at work building a greenhouse. It comes off our water tank and will be home to an aquaponics system and plant nursery. It’s also a great spot to have a coffee on a cold winter’s morning. An awkward unused space between the vegie garden, watertank and the chook run has been transformed linking the areas and benefiting from the thermal mass of the water tank.

Also June is the last month you can pick up a print copy of issue one.  They come off sale in the newsagents on the 26th.  Many have sold out but if you’re in NSW, QLD or VIC, check out our map of distributing newsagents and find one near you. Next issue we’re hoping on distributing nationally though the newsagents and other selected outlets. If you want them in your local newsagent order it in now.
